Research
First, please Research the breed, make sure a Labrador Retriever is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
Application/Questionnaire
Fill out an Application/Questionnaire so that we can gather some more information about your family, lifestyle, history with dogs, and what you are looking for in your next dog. Please be sure to indicate on your application any and all preferences of color/gender combinations. Full AKC (breeding registration) is available under certain circumstances, location, etc. Please contact me for pricing and to discuss this further.
WAITLIST DEPOSITS
Once I have reviewed your application and we agree that a LLL puppy is a great fit for your family, I will require a $300 “waitlist” deposit and a deposit contract agreement which will place your name on the waitlist. The waitlist deposit assures me that you are serious in the investment into the right breeder and that you will not continue to search for another breeder or puppy. I have found that too many people continue to search for a puppy instead of waiting for a litter from a reputable breeder like myself. I end up spending countless hours, days, weeks reaching back out to people on my waitlist that have either moved on, changed their minds, or simply don’t get back to me on their intentions or interest. Please also keep in mind that the amount of time to wait for a puppy is dependent on several things; I’m a small breeder and 1st and foremost I’m at the mercy of Mother Nature and the timing of my girls’ heat cycles, 2nd being the demand and length of my waitlist, which can vary based on overall demand and sometimes demand for a specific color or sex or both and 3rd – success of the breeding. A dog’s gestation is 58-63 days depending on the timing of their ovulation (I won’t bore you with all of those details), then the puppy spends his/her first 7-8 weeks with us. This puts the lead time to take a puppy HOME at any given time of roughly 4 months IF the litter has been planned AND bred (maybe less time depending on where in the gestation timeline the litter is at) and obviously more if it has only been planned and NOT bred. I will try my best to keep approximate dates for when I expect my girls’ to go into season on my website as well.
Picking your Puppy – Selection Dates
Once I have confirmation of a pregnancy for a litter that matches your color/gender preferences; I will contact families in the order that the waitlist deposit was secured. I will take a set number of “selection” deposits for each expected color/gender combo (this number will vary depending on the colors expected from that particular breeding). The deposit to secure your place in line for pick from the litter will be an additional $500, for a total “full” deposit of $800 ($300 waitlist deposit + $500 selection deposit). The full deposit will go towards the final price of the puppy. After the litter is born and I know what I have for colors/genders I will continue to contact families in the order that the waitlist deposits were secured. The waitlist deposit AND the selection deposit are NON-REFUNDABLE** and will require a signed contract agreement to move forward with the process. Deposits do not expire. If something comes up, please do not hesitate to reach out. We will place your deposit on hold until you are ready
**Certain circumstances, at the breeder’s discretion only, will warrant a refund such as but not limited to; the buyer’s color and gender combination is NOT produced in the litter. If that happens, the buyer will be able to #1- chose to move their deposit to another color & gender combination in that litter IF there is availability, #2- transfer the deposit to another (future) litter, or #3 – receive a refund. Once the full deposit of $800 is secured, it is non-refundable should the buyer change their mind or back out for ANY reason.
Selection dates will be determined by the breeder and will be arranged for the weekend at or around the age of 6 weeks old. Selection dates and times will be set once the litter is on the ground. I will do my best to accommodate what works for your family, however, please keep in mind that it is very difficult to coordinate my schedule with 8-12 families in the proper order to ensure a smooth selection process so depending on where you fall in line, there may or may not be a lot of flexibility.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
*LLL reserves the right to hold back first pick male or female for our own breeding program. All picks are first come, first serve. We go by the date you secured the deposit.
Preparing for your Puppy
Schedule your puppy’s first well puppy exam for a day or two after pick up. We recommend when scheduling this appointment, to also schedule future vaccination appointments. Vet appointments are becoming difficult to make, and planning ahead sets you up for success. It’s time to start preparing your home for your new puppy. Now is a great time to visit the favorites section on our website to see what we recommend for food, treats, toys, etc. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Puppy Go Home Day
The day you have been waiting for! Go Home Dates will be arranged for the weekend closest to your puppies’ 8 week birthday. We will schedule a time for you to pick up your puppy. Every puppy receives a bath and nail trimming before pick up. We will go over your puppy swag bag to include the necessary paperwork and final payment. Once completed, it’s time to take your puppy home! If you need transportation service, we will assist you with scheduling this ahead of time. The most common options are flight nannies or ground transportation. A flight nanny is a person that escorts your puppy from one airport to another for pick up. We can refer you to several great flight nannies that we work with on a regular basis. If your puppy is flying, full payment is due at six weeks of age so that these funds have time to clear through our financial institution.
All of our puppies will go home with a Toy with Littermates’ & Momma’s Scent, Blanket with Littermates & Momma’s Scent, Microchip, Food Starter Bag, AKC Registration (Limited / Pet Only unless previously discussed with Breeder), 30 days of Complimentary Pet Insurance through Trupanion, Documents including veterinary records, worming records, vaccination records (1st round of DAPPv Vaccine), tips on raising a puppy and LIFETIME Breeder Support!
Final payment can be made in cash at Go Home Day. Other payment options are welcome but require payment to be made no less than a week prior to go home day so that the funds can clear our financial institution and be verified prior to your puppy leaving. Please contact us directly to discuss your preferred way to pay.
Wisconsin Sales Tax of 5.5% will be charged on top of the price of the puppy.
We look forward to helping you find your next Loving Loyal Lab!
